Formal parts
Opening and Closing Ceremony
The Opening and Closing Ceremony forms the official frame of the
conference. On the Opening Ceremony the outgoing President of IAPS
officially opens the conference, and outlines the main issues of his/her
presidental year in a speach. As for the next week's programme, the
organizers of the conference give everybody a brief summary following
the speach. On the Closing Ceremony the new President of IAPS gives a
speach and after that the organizers say 'thank you' to everybody for
the participation.
General Meeting
The General Meeting is the main decision-maker body of IAPS. The most
important issues voted every year on the General Meeting are the appointing
of the next President Candidate of IAPS, and the country, where the next
ICPS will be held. Certainly there are a lot of other votings, too.
Besides the votings, there are reports from all the IAPS officers, and
discussions on the main issues. The General Meeting has a primary agenda,
which is presented weeks before this meeting by IAPS.
Lecture and Poster Sessions
On the Lecture and Poster Sessions all participants have the opportunity
to present their works. They can hold lectures in English, and/or present
a poster (also in English). The Lecture Sessions are held simultaneously,
in three rooms. The Poster Session is in the gaps of lectures,
when participants can watch the persented posters on the passages.
The Attended Poster Session is a seperate session, when the presenter
stands by his/her poster and answers questions of the enquirers.
If you are a participant, it is strongly recommended to hold a lecture,
or at least present a poster because this is an excellent opportunity
to show your work to an international audience and to get practice in
presentation too.
Invited Talks
Besides the lectures held by participants, some famous physicists are
invited each year to hold lectures on their research area and on their
results. These talks present leading researches and let the participants
meet famous physicists in real life.
Young Physicists Day
This is not a usual formal program. In 2002, the ICPS will
coincide in time and space with EPS12 (also known as 'Trends
in Physics'), the XII. Conference of the European Physical
Society. (To read more about EPS, and their conferences go to [www.eps.org]). The EPS conference has a
usual formal part called Young Physicists' Day. This year everyone, who
takes part in ICPS is invited to this EPS program. The best lecturers
of the ICPS Lecture Session will be invited to present their lectures
to the EPS audience as well, a society of famous physicists from all
over the world. | |
